Cricket fans at the MCA stadium in Pune had to suffer a lot in the second India vs New Zealand test.

There was a shortage of drinking water for the fans on the first day of the second test. at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium. The fans had to bear a lot as the stadium lacks “shade”. It was a quite hot and humid day in Pune. The lack of drinking water was a big blunder from the stadium management.

The Maharashtra Cricket Association’s Secretary Kamlesh Pisal had to apologise to the fans for this harassment. He said, “I sincerely apologize to all the fans for the inconvenience caused today, especially due to the water shortage. We have already addressed it. I assure you that from tomorrow until the end of the game, free drinking water will be supplied in every stand without any problem”.

The fans at the North Stand had to face a lot of troubles. Most of the stands were without shade at the MCA Stadium. It took three hours to normalize everything there. The other stands saw an irregular water supply for 45 minutes to an hour.

Things turned worse as unknown vendors sold half-liter water bottles at outrageous prices. The North Stand fans finally lost their patience after sitting in the sun without any drinking water. They descended to vocal protests against the authorities.

MCA Secretary and MCA Apex Council members and chief operating officer, Ajinkya Joshi directed the event management agency to double the number of water supply counters from the second day of the game.

The MCA Secretary also said, “The MCA has not authorized anyone to sell water. We are getting to the bottom of the issue. The supply at two or three points in the North Stand was interrupted since the MCA tried to serve chilled water to spectators considering the October heat”.

India bundled out New Zealand for 259 runs on Day 1. Washington Sundar picked up 7 wickets with Ravichandran Ashwin picking up 3 wickets. India lost captain Rohit Sharma for a duck late in the day. Yashasvi Jaiswal (6* runs) and Shubman Gill (10* runs) are at the crease for the hosts.
