Bangladesh won the 2nd ODI of the 3-match series against Afghanistan. They won the game by 68 runs and level the series 1-1.
Afghanistan won the first game quite dominatingly by 92 runs. Bangladesh came back strongly to win the 2nd ODI. Batting first Bangladesh scored 252-7. Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto led from the front. He scored 76 runs despite wickets falling around. Tanzid Hasan (22 runs), Soumya Sarkar (35 runs), and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (22 runs) also chipped in.
Jaker Ali (37* runs) and Nasum Ahmed (25 runs) scored a crucial 46 runs between them. Their partnership helped Bangladesh to a respected total. Nangeyalia Kharote picked up 3 wickets for Afghanistan. Rashid Khan and Allah Ghazanfar picked up 2 wickets each.
Bowlers helped Bangladesh defeat Afghanistan
Chasing 253 runs, Afghanistan lost Rahmanullah Gurbaz for just 2 runs. Sediqullah Atal (39 runs) had a 52-run partnership with Rahmat Shah. Shah scored 52 runs and was the best batter for his team.
Afghanistan were 118 for 2 and then they lost three wickets for just one run in a span of six deliveries. Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 17 runs. Azmatullah Omarzai was dismissed for a golden duck.
Gulbadin Naib (26 runs) and Mohammad Nabi (17 runs) had a little partnership of 44 runs. Afghanistan lost their last 5 wickets for just 21 runs. They were 163 for 6 and got bowled out for 184 runs.
The bowlers were exceptional for Bangladesh and they won the match for them. Spinner Nasum Ahmed picked up 3 wickets. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rahman picked up 2 wickets each. Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam picked up one wicket each.
Bowlers have dominated the first two games of the series. The team which performs well with the bat in the third game will have the upper hand.
The third and series decider match will be played on 11th November 2024 at 3:30 PM IST at the same venue (Sharjah Cricket Ground). Both Afghanistan and Bangladesh will look to give their all in that game and eventually win the series.
