Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie expressed his disappointment after Pakistan defeated Australia 2-1 in the ODI series. He’s upset about the fact that Cricket Australia didn’t promote the Australia-Pakistan ODI series.

Pakistan achieved a historic feat as they defeated the hosts 2-1. It was their first ODI series win in Australia since 2002. Gillespie said that it was quite evident that Cricket Australia (CA) was prioritising the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Talking to the Sydney Morning Herald, former Australia speedster and Pakistan’s head coach said, “To be honest, I pretty much saw no promotion of our one-day series by Cricket Australia, which was a bit of a surprise. It’s pretty obvious that they’re prioritizing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series against India because I saw no promotion of this series”.

He further added, “Fox does a great job promoting but it was pretty clear to us where CA’s priorities lie. That’s their prerogative and their decision but I just didn’t see any advertising, and promotion of this one-day series at all”.

Bowlers lead Pakistan to a famous series win over Australia

Gillespie concluded by saying, “The timing is really difficult for administrators to schedule all the cricket in. But it has felt from Pakistan’s perspective that based on selections and promotion of the series their priorities have been India. Everyone can see that, it’s pretty obvious.

Australian skipper Pat Cummins alongside many test regulars skipped the 3rd ODI against Pakistan. It was to have proper preparations for the series against India. India will tour Australia for a 5-match test series. The first game of the series will start on 22nd November 2024 in Perth.

The Pakistani pacers put in a great effort as a bowling group. They were the main reason for Pakistan’s success in the ODI series. Haris Rauf picked up 10 wickets in the three matches. Shaheen Afridi picked up 8 with Naseem Shah picking up 5.

Australia scored 200+ only once in the first ODI. Their scores in the next two games were 163 and 140 respectively. It’s a morale-boosting performance for Pakistan after the home test series win against England. Pakistan will now play a 3-match T20I series against the Aussies starting from 14th November.
