The IPL 2025 mega auction is just days away and the IPL fever has already taken over the fans. There will be two “marquee” players set in this auction. It used to be two but it was only one in the last auction.
Each set has 6 players. There were a total of 1574 putting their names for the auction and out of them 574 names have been shortlisted for the mega-event. The auction will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 24th-25th November.
The auction timing will be 3 PM IST so it won’t clash with the first Border-Gavaskar Test between India and Australia at Perth. The test will start from 22nd November.
No Jofra Archer in the IPL 2025 mega auction
England pacer Jofra Archer’s name is not in the players list released by the IPL. Meanwhile, veteran James Anderson’s name is there. Other surprises include players like Glenn Maxwell, Ishan Kishan and Ravichandran Ashwin not being named in the marquee list for the auction.
The marquee lists include Jos Buttler, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Kagiso Rabada and Mitchell Starc in marquee list 1. Liam Livingstone, KL Rahul, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal and David Warner are in marquee list 2.
Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, Rovman Powell, Ajinkya Rahane, Daryl Mitchell, Kane Williamson and Mayank Agarwal are on the Batter 2 list in the auction.
There are a total of 48 capped Indian players and 193 capped overseas players. The number of uncapped Indian players is 318 with 12 uncapped overseas players taking part in the auction.
A total of 81 players have set their base price at INR 2 crores (the highest). 27 players have INR 1.50 crores as their base price with 18 players being at INR 1.25. 23 players have their base price as INR 1 crore.
