Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel burst into laughter after batter Sarfaraz Khan’s amusing catch while training.
The first test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia is just one day away. Both teams are preparing for the big series very intensely. The Indian team played a 3-day intrasquad match ahead of the series.
During all this, there was a hilarious moment when Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan were practising slip catches. Sarfaraz Khan weirdly took a catch and the other three players couldn’t control their laughter seeing the comical effort from the middle-order batter.
Rishabh Pant fell on the ground while laughing and Virat Kohli too found it very funny. Both Kohli and Pant were seen imitating Sarfaraz’s unique style of catching the ball.
Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant will be key batters for India on a tough track at Perth
Both Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant will be very important with the bat for the Indian team. Rohit Sharma is unavailable for the first test and there are doubts on Shubman Gill’s availability after he sustained a finger injury.
KL Rahul is expected to open the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. Devdutt Padikkal has been added to the squad as well. Both Jaiswal and Padikkal have no experience of playing in Australia. Although Padikkal played in the recent series against Australia A, this will be a very difficult challenge.
Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan are also yet to play a test match in the Australian conditions. This leaves only KL Rahul, Kohli and Pant in the batting unit with prior experience of playing down under.
The pitch at Perth is expected to suit the pacers with pace and extra bounce. Australia has a very strong pace attack of skipper Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Scott Boland. All the batters in the Indian team are quality players but it may take some time for them to get used to the conditions. Kohli and Pant will have a lot of responsibility on their shoulders.
