A lot happened on Day 1 of the Perth test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. It all started with India winning the toss and opting to bat at the Optus Stadium.
The hosts were off to the worst possible start. Yashasvi Jaiswal (duck), Devdutt Padikkal (duck) and Virat Kohli (5 runs) were dismissed quite cheaply by the Aussie pacers.
India kept losing wickets frequently and eventually got bowled out for just 150 runs in their first innings. Nitish Kumar Reddy (41 runs) and Rishabh Pant (37 runs) showed some promise for a brief time.
Then came the Indian bowlers led by skipper Jasprit Bumrah and they wreak havoc at the Optus Stadium. Bumrah (4 wickets), Siraj (2 wickets) and Harshit Rana (1 wicket) stunned the Aussies and restricted them to 67/7 at stumps on Day 1.
