Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese met Team India. This meeting was just ahead of the 2-day practice game between India and Prime Minister’s XI at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.
The 2nd test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be a day-night test with the pink ball at the Adelaide Oval. It will start on 6th December 2024. This practice game at the Manuka Oval will be important for Team India to get in the rhythm with the pink ball.
The Australian Prime Minister’s official ‘X’ handle then posted about the meeting. It says, “Big Challenge ahead for the PM’s XI at Manuka Oval this week against an amazing Indian side”.
Further in the post it said that the Aussie PM told India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he’s backing the Aussies to get the job done.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also quoted the tweet saying, “Glad to see my good friend Anthony Albanese with the Indian and PM XI’s teams. Team India is off to a great start in the series. 1.4 billion Indians are strongly rooting for the Men in Blue. I look forward to exciting games ahead.”
Captain Rohit Sharma introduced Team India to Australian PM
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was seen introducing the Indian players to the Australian Prime Minister. The Australian PM first met Jasprit Bumra and told him that “you’re a star”.
He then proceeded to meet Virat Kohli and immediately shook hands with him asking him “How are you doing”.
PM Anthony Albanese then said to Virat, “Great ton at Perth. As if we were not suffering enough at that point”.
To which Kohli replied, “You always got to add a bit of spice to it”.
India won the first test match at Perth by a big margin of 295 runs. It was their biggest-ever test win against Australia down under. They will be pretty confident as a team going into the 2nd test at Adelaide.
