Sachin Tendulkar is someone who has a keen eye on talent. Having played international cricket for 24 years, there are very few who understand the game better than the ‘Master Blaster’.
Despite retiring from the game more than a decade ago, Tendulkar is constantly involved in the game. He is the mentor at Mumbai Indians (MI) during the Indian Premier League (IPL) and usually keeps himself up to date on world cricket and its happenings. In fact, he regularly posts on social media as well.
Recently, he put up a video on ‘X’. It was of a girl bowling with a very smooth action. The girl’s name is Sushila Meena who resides in a small village in Rajasthan. She is just 10 years old and became an internet sensation once the great man shared the video on his social media.
Tendulkar loved her bowling action and he felt she had shades of Zaheer Khan. Tendulkar wrote, “Smooth, effortless, and lovely to watch! Sushila Meena’s bowling action has shades of you, @ImZaheer. Do you see it too?”
Zaheer Khan responded in affirmation. He was highly impressed by the 10-year-old. The former India left-arm fast bowler wrote, “@sachintendulkar You’re spot on with that, and I couldn’t agree more. Her action is so smooth and impressive-she’s showing a lot of promise already!”
‘I don’t know who Sachin Tendulkar is’: Sushila Meena
The latest viral 10-year-old revealed that she didn’t know who Sachin Tendulkar is as she has never watched television in her life. She comes from a humble background and admitted that she has never watched cricket. However, all she thinks is about getting a batter out.
“I don’t know who he [Sachin Tendulkar] is. Once the ball is in my hand, all I can think about is getting the batter out,” Sushila Meena was quoted saying to BBC.
The BBC reported that Meena is grateful to Tendulkar who made her famous. In fact, she has gained a lot of traction from family and friends ever since the video went viral.
Her classmate Asha who plays cricket with Meena admitted that her friend is tough to face. “Her ball turns unexpectedly and then suddenly hits the wicket,” Asha said.
A couple of weeks ago Sushila Meena was just a regular 10-year-old who liked playing cricket. Now, she’s become a social media sensation after Tendulkar’s video. According to BBC, she’s been receiving a lot of gifts and be it politicians, friends or family, everyone is asking for her and wants a picture with her.
