The Madhya Pradesh-born speedster Arshdeep Singh has been named the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2024. He has emerged as the most prolific bowler for India in the shortest format after Jasprit Bumrah. The lanky left-arm pacer recorded his best moment of 2024 in the T20 World Cup where he finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker along with Afghanistan’s Fazal Farooqi with 17 scalps to his name.

How did Arshadeep react after unlocking this groundbreaking milestone?

During a recent interview, Arshdeep was filled with joy and excitement after bagging the prestigious award. He thanked everyone and the support staff who worked with him behind the scenes to make him the finished product that he is today.

"Feels great to win the ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year award. Really grateful and thankful to god. Thankful to everyone, whoever worked behind the scenes, and the credit goes to the support staff and all the players as well who helped get the best out of me."

Moreover, he also reflected on the moment when India thrashed South Africa in the T20 World Cup Final last year to lift the title for the second time since 2007. He further added that he aspires to script match-winning performances for his national side either by being economical or by delivering game-changing wicket-taking spells.

"(On his special moment of 2024) special moment? As every Indian would say that it was the final that we won, the (T20) World Cup final. Looking forward to making more such memories. Whether it's being economical or taking wickets at the start or the end, I just try to bring the best out of me for the team and give them good results. I will cherish this moment for some time."
