New Zealand’s Chad Bowes scored the fastest double-century in List A Cricket. He scored 205 runs off 110 deliveries in the 4th match of the Ford Trophy 2024-25.
The Canterbury opener completed his double-century in just 103 deliveries against the Otago Volts. Bowes goes past Australia’s Travis Head and India’s N Jagadeesan who previously held the record for the fastest double-century in List A cricket in 114 deliveries.
Head scored a double-century playing for South Australia against Queensland in the Marsh One-Day Cup 2021-22. Meanwhile, Jagadeesan achieved this feat in the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy against Arunachal Pradesh. He played a record-breaking knock of 277 runs.
Bowes scored 27 fours and 7 sixes in his innings and helped his side to a total of 343-9. Otago’s Matthew Bacon picked up 5 wickets with Andrew Hazeldine picking up 3. Canterbury Kings, eventually won the game by a big margin of 240 runs. Sean Davey and Michael Rippon picked up 3 wickets each, Zakary Foulkes picked up 2 with Michael Rae and Cole McConchie picking up a wicket each.

This was the 100th List A game for Chad Bowes and he celebrated that in some style at the Hagley Oval.
He said, “It might sink· in over the next day or two, but obviously a great· day here at Hagley and a good occasion to do something special. These things happen naturally, organically. You don’t plan for it or try to do it, so I’m glad it was my day. Probably not [hit the ball] consistently that well, so it was nice· to get· most of them out of the middle and hit it around the park. It started really nicely so I just kept going and it was working so I didn’t try to rein it in too much and just kept the foot on the gas”.
Chad Bowes made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2023. He has played 6 ODIs for New Zealand with 99 runs to his name including one fifty. His T20I debut was against Sri Lanka as well in the same tour. Bowes has 11 T20Is to his name and 187 runs including a fifty.
