Australia have named Adam Griffith as the new pace-bowling coach of the men’s cricket team. The 46-year-old is currently serving Victoria as the assistant coach and will move over to Brisbane to start his role at the National Cricket Centre.
Cricket Australia (CA) released a statement which stated that the key focus of Griffith will be “developing the next generation of Australian quicks.” He will also be a part of the Australian coaching setup for Australia A and Australia when Daniel Vettori is away for other commitments.
The current head coach of the Australian men’s side Andrew McDonald was delighted with the new signing. He believes Griffith’s experience and expertise will play a big role in the preparation of the fast bowlers.
“I’m delighted Adam will bring his extensive experience to Cricket Australia as National Pace Bowling Coach and become an important part of our coaching set up. Adam’s expertise across all formats will be invaluable in the preparation of pace bowlers for Australia’s national men’s teams,” Australia men’s head coach Andrew McDonald was quoted saying in the release.
Griffith’s extensive coaching experience

Griffith represented Tasmania in domestic cricket and played his cricket between 2002 and 2010. He was even a part of the Tasmania side that lifted their first-ever Sheffield Shield title in the 2006-07 season. Griffith has served as the assistant coach at Perth Scorchers and Western Australia before he took up the role of head coach at Tasmania and Hobart Hurricanes in 2017. He was the bowling coach for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) from 2020 till the most recent 2024 season. RCB had appointed Omkar Salvi as the bowling coach ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
The former Tasmania-born fast bowler also had a stint with San Fransico Unicorns in the Major League Cricket (MLC). As far as international cricket is concerned, Griffith joined the Australian team on different tours in 2012 and 2016. He was also a part of the support staff for the 2019 World Cup which took place in England.
