Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal has opined on Prithvi Shaw's getting unsold in the recent IPL 2025 auction.

Delhi Capitals (DC) co-owner Parth Jindal has made a massive statement on Prithvi Shaw, who went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction.

Shaw was a part of the DC setup since his IPL debut in 2018. He played a key role in taking the team to the playoffs in three consecutive seasons from 2019 to 2021. In particular, the opening batter produced his best-ever tally of 479 runs in the 2021 season.

As a result, Prithvi Shaw was retained by the franchise ahead of the 2022 season. After scoring 283 runs that year, the performance of the right-hander dwindled. He returned with only 304 runs in 16 innings in the last two innings, with two fifties.

The Capitals decided to release Shaw ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. Due to his disciplinary and fitness issues, the right-hander did not find any takers in the event and went unsold.

In an interaction with Sports Today, Jindal noted that Shaw needed this setback to improve his fitness and performances. As per him, the 25-year-old needs to work hard to get back into the cash-rich league.

“Prithvi is a great kid. He is misunderstood in many ways. And I think all of us growing up need a jolt and need to be shaken up from our slumber. There are times when I even needed that jolt. You grow up in that environment, and everyone from Mumbai cricket talking big about you. I think this is that one jolt Prithvi needed,” Jindal said.

“Till now, he was on a fat IPL contract, he was playing for Mumbai across all formats, and was someone starting for DC atleast. I think he needs to work hard. He needs to get back to loving the game of cricket. He needs to get back to the nets, get his fitness. He needs to get back and understand where he went wrong and get disciplined,” he added.
