What India Women batter Harleen Deol said after scoring a hundred against West Indies Women?
The talented Indian batter, Harleen Deol made her ODI debut in February 2019. But, she never maintained her spot in the XI, due to failing to convert her starts into big knocks. However, she finally hit her maiden ODI hundred and looks set to retain her place in the 50-over side.
In the post-match presentation, Player of the Match Deol expressed her happiness of hitting a century and contributing to the team’s win. She said:
“Definitely it is a very proud moment for me, waiting for it for a long time, just enjoy it. When I came into bat, I just had that much time, I thought of playing some cricket. The more I play, the more shots I can play, that was on my mind, nothing else. When you are batting well, it’s always easy no matter where you are batting. The last match I played, I thought of continuing that flow.
“Means a lot to me, when I was in rehab, I was thinking of scoring a century day in and day out. Ultimate goal was to make the team win and today was that dream so I just went with the flow. For me it’s the first one, I don’t know about the scrappy 100s, few shots were not on, talking to my partners, they were telling me those shots were not on, so go for the other shots.”
