Former Indian cricketer turned TV presenter Sanjay Manjrekar has linked Jasprit Bumrah’s personality with the late legendary Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar. Manjrekar views the Indian speedster as someone who exhibits no signs of weakness, a trait that was often associated with the late legendary actor.

So what do Bumrah and Dilip Kumar have in common?

Dilip was renowned as one of the most accomplished actors in Indian cinema and Bumrah is someone who is slowly but certainly approaching that level of status. During a recent interaction between Manjrekar and the Indian actor Aamir Khan, the latter suggested that Kumar showcased no weaknesses in his work which often set him apart from the crowd. The same notion holds true for Jasprit Bumrah. The champion bowler is by far the best in the business as the batters around the cricketing world still continue to explore ways to counter his threat despite his international debut a long time ago in 2016.

"I spent one evening with Aamir Khan and we were talking about Dilip Kumar. So I asked him that 'we don't understand from the outside what is so great about Dilip Kumar'. Aamir thought about it for a while and then eventually said, 'He had no weakness'. That's Bumrah for you."

For his ground-breaking exploits in 2024 which included India’s unbelievable win in the 2024 T20 World Cup final, Jasprit Bumrah was recently awarded the Men’s Cricket of the Year and the Test Cricketer of the Year awards by the International Cricket Council (ICC). In addition, the 31-year-old also featured in ICC’s Test and ODI teams of the year for 2024.

More about Jasprit Bumrah lately

As per reports, the current situation for the Indian ace speedster continues to be grim. After being forced out of action with a stiff back during the fifth and final Test in Sydney earlier this month, Bumrah continues to be under the close observation of medical professionals. Furthermore, a trip to New Zealand has also been planned for Bumrah where he will touch base with a group of specialist doctors who will oversee his recovery process.

It is believed that he is unlikely to be fit for the upcoming Champions Trophy tournament. However, the medical professionals and the team management are hopeful of his return at some point during the course of the tournament.
