Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has shared his emotional struggles, which pertain to his separation from his son, Zoravar. Notably, Dhawan divorced his previous wife, Ayesha Mukherjee in 2023, citing mental cruelty, as Ayesha kept his son away from the former left-hander.
Dhawan and Ayesha married in 2012 and started to live separately since mid-2020. It is worth noting that Ayesha promised to live in India, but later returned to Australia with his Zoravar and two daughters, Aliyah and Rhea, who were from her previous marriage.
The court granted visitation rights to Shikhar Dhawan for meeting his son for some time in India and Australia and also talk with him through video calls. It also ordered Ayesha to let Zoravar stay with Dhawan and his family at least for half the period of school vacation. However, nothing came to fruition, as per the star cricketer.
In an exclusive interview with ANI, Shikhar Dhawan revealed that his number has been blocked by Ayesha, and he hasn’t been able to talk with his son for the last two years.
“It’s been two years since I saw my son, and one year since we last talked. Because I am blocked from everywhere, it’s been difficult, but you learn to live with it. I miss him, but I talk to him spiritually. I feel like I’m talking to him every day, hugging him. I put my energy into it spiritually, as it’s the only way I can bring him back. My sadness won’t help,” he said.
“My son is 11 years old now, but I’ve only seen him for 2.5 years. He used to live in Australia when I traveled a lot. After my marriage, I adopted two daughters from my wife’s previous marriage, and Zoravar couldn’t shift here. But I took it in my stride, and I was happy with that. When the separation happened, things changed, but you learn to mold yourself into it,” he explained.
Shikhar Dhawan is India’s best batter in Champions Trophy

As the 2025 Champions Trophy is set to start from February 19, there have been talks around Shikhar Dhawan’s impressive performance in the showpiece event.
Notably, Dhawan has amassed 701 runs in 10 innings at an exceptional average of 77.88, with three centuries and as many fifties. Interestingly, he ended up as the leading run-scorer in both editions (2013 and 2017) with 363 runs and 338 runs, respectively.
Dhawan’s tally in the 2013 edition helped the Indian side to win the title for the first time. In the final against England, he contributed a crucial 31 off 24, which paved the way for India to post a 129-run total and win by five runs.
