Virender Sehwag's son Aaryavir smashed 297 off 309 balls for Delhi in the Cooch Behar Trophy game against Meghalaya.

Virender Sehwag’s son Aaryavir stunned the cricket fraternity with his impactful batting performance in the Cooch Behar Trophy. While representing Delhi, Aaryavir slammed 297 off 309 against Meghalaya at the MCA Cricket Ground in Shillong on Thursday, November 21.

The game witnessed Meghalaya batting first and getting off to a bad start, losing three wickets early. However, Gaurav Narleng scored 95 to help the side post 260 on the board.

In response, Delhi openers Arnav Bugga and Aaryavir Sehwag provided a brilliant start to the team. After finding rhythm, they found consistent boundaries to steer the team at a comfortable rate. They stitched a 180-run stand, before Bugga was dismissed on 114.

However, Aaryavir continued his momentum and went on to stitch a 246-run partnership with Dhanya Nakra for the third wicket. Unfortunately, he fell shy of a triple century after being bowled by RS Rathour. In the end, Delhi declared on 623/5, and took a lead of 363 runs.

Throughout his dominating innings, Aaryavir displayed the same attitude of Sehwag, where he would “stand and deliver” against the pacers as well as spinners.

After the end of Day 3 (Friday), Meghalaya are at 141/5, and are still trailing by 222 runs. It will be a herculean task for them to save the game on the final day.

Virender Sehwag praises Aaryavir his son for sensational knock

Virender Sehwag took to X to applaud his son for his impressive knock, which helped Delhi dominate the proceedings against Meghalaya. He hoped that Aaryavir would continue to convert his starts into bigger knocks and keep the fire alive in the coming games.

In 2023, Virender Sehwag had appeared in an interview with Star Sports and revealed that his son has been trying to make an entry into the IPL. He also put an emphasis on the players’ performances in the domestic circuit becoming more vital in their pursuit of securing an IPL contract.

“My son is 15 years old and is already working hard to get a chance to play in the IPL,” he said on Star Sports.

“The IPL has benefited young talent the most. Earlier, nobody got noticed from Ranji Trophy performances and hence couldn’t make it to the Indian team. But now, if you perform well in the IPL and you showcase your talent, then immediately, you get an opportunity to play for the Indian team. Because of the IPL, so many children from smaller states of the country have started taking cricket seriously and try their best to participate in the IPL and strive hard for it,” he added.
