Australian players' interaction ahead of BGT 2024-25 test in Melbourne

The Australian team engaged in a funny interaction with ABC Sport ahead of the Boxing Day test in Melbourne. The players were asked to define BCCI, ICC and Indian cricket in one word, and they returned with varied reactions, which caught fans in splits.

India and Australia are currently engaged in a tough tussle, with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) tied 1-1. The Indian side secured a 295-run victory in Perth, while Australia bounced back with a 10-wicket win in Adelaide. The third game in Gabba ended as a draw, with India showing their fighting spirit and avoiding a follow-on.

Although the tensions have flared with controversies of Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, a recent interaction of Australian players with the media has brought smiles to the faces of Indian fans.

In the order of BCCI, ICC and Indian cricket, here’s what different Australian cricketers said about them:

Pat Cummins: Big, Big, Big

Travis Head: Rulers, second, strong

Usman Khawaja: Strong, ICC, Talented

Nathan Lyon: Big, Boss, Passionate

Glenn Maxwell: Powerful, Boss, Fanatic

Alex Carey: Powerful, Trophy, Powerful

Interestingly, Steve Smith’s response amused fans, as he deemed the BCCI as powerful, and the ICC as not as Powerful. However, Smith quickly changed his response and said, “No, I can’t say that. That was a joke.”

Tanush Kotian to join Indian squad ahead of Melbourne test

Tanush Kotian added to India squad for BGT 2024-25 against Australia

The bowling all-rounderm Tanush Kotian has been called up to the Indian squad for the remaining games of BGT 2024-25. His inclusion comes after veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin announced his shocking retirement following the conclusion of the third test in Gabba.

Kotian was a part of the Mumbai squad for the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. In his recent outing against Hyderabad, the 26-year-old emerged as the Player of the Match with his contribution of 39* and figures of 2/38.

The talented all-rounder scored 44 runs and returned with a solitary wicket for India A against Australia A last month. In two Ranji Trophy games, Kotian picked up 12 wickets in two appearances.

As far as his first-class track record is concerned, Tanush Kotian has scalped 101 wickets in 33 games, while scoring 1,525 runs with two centuries. Although, Washington Sundar holds an edge to play as a second spinner (if required) along with Ravindra Jadeja in Melbourne, Kotian can be a good backup for the Sydney test for the Indian team.
