The Bangladesh Cricket Board enlisted Mehidy Hasan Miraz back into the T20I squad after 14 months when announcing the squad for the three-match series against India.
The 26-year-old is joined by others who have not played a match since the series with Afghanistan in July 2023. He is incorporated in a potent spin department consisting of Mahedi Hasan, Rakibul Hasan and a rising star Rishad Hossain.
With both players having missed the World Cup, left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan and aggressive left-handed batsman Parvez Hossain Emon have also been re-included. Back in December 2020, Emon scored a hundred off 42 balls in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup but has only played three T20 international matches since then.
As for Rakibul, he was part of the U19 World Cup winning side of Bangladesh which played in South Africa in 2020. The boy has played three T20Is and led junior U19 in 2022 after making his debut against Malaysia last year during the Asian Games.
Shoriful Islam makes his comeback following an injury absence
Shoriful Islam was sidelined from the second Test versus Pakistan and the subsequent two-match Test series against India owing to a groin injury. The fast bowler has made a comeback to the seam-attack comprising of Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Taskin Ahmed.
Among the players in the squad, Mahmudullah Riyad is however the most seasoned one as he has scored 2394 runs in T20I 138 matches and taken 43 wickets.
Najmul Hossain Shanto will head a 15-level team that will also feature promising young stature cricketers Towhid Hridoy, Tanzid Hassan Tamim and oddly Towhid Hridoy. Litton Das is most likely going to be the preferred wicketkeeper in front of Anik, who also participated in the T20 World Cup and is yet to feature.
In the First T20I, will be played on October 6 at New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior. Delhi and Hyderabad will be the venues for the second and third T20Is on October 9 and 12 respectively.
