The IPL governing council has released the list of 574 players set to go under the hammer in the much-awaited mega auction. The event is all set to take place on November 24-25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
A total of 204 spots will be available for the 574 players making a final cut for the auction. The list includes 366 Indian and 208 overseas players registering to participate in the cash-rich league.
A total of 81 players are entering into the auction with a base price of INR 2 crore. Some of the Indian players in this category include Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Shami. Meanwhile, Jos Buttler, Mitchell Starc, David Warner and Glenn Maxwell also make their way with the highest price bracket.
Ahead of the auction, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals decided to utilize their full retentions of six players. For the unversed, KKR lifted the title under Iyer in 2024, while Sanju Samson led the Royals to the playoffs.
With only two retentions, the Punjab Kings have the highest purse amount of 110.5 crore for the auction. They are likely to break the bank for securing the services of experienced batters and bowlers for the 2025 season.
Top 5 Oldest and Youngest players in the IPL 2025 auction
The IPL 2025 auction sees a huge age gap of 29 years between the oldest and youngest player to register for the IPL 2025 auction. The oldest player is James Anderson (42 years and 108 days) and the youngest is Vaibhav Suryavanshi (13 years and 233 days).
Anderson, who retired from international cricket, earlier this year expressed his desire to expand his knowledge of the T20 format. Meanwhile, Suryavanshi is the youngest player to score a century in Youth Tests. He achieved the feat last month while playing for Indian U19 side in a red-ball fixture against Australian U19 team.
Meanwhile, the players Ravichandran Ashwin, Sikandar Raza, Mohammad Nabi and Faf du Plessis are few players who rank among the oldest players in the auction. Interestingly, the 40-year-old Du Plessis led the Royal Challengers Bengaluru side to the playoffs last year, but was not retained by the side. It will be interesting to see if these players can find suitors, given their uncertainty in a long-term basis.
Hardik Raj, Kwena Maphaka, Andre Siddarth Ayush Mhatre are youngsters, who would look to find interest from the franchises after impressive performances for their domestic teams.
