SMAT 2024-25: Delhi becomes first team to use all 11 players as bowlers

Delhi became the first team to use all 11 players as bowlers. This happened in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024-25 in the match between Delhi and Manipur. 

Ayush Badoni, the Delhi skipper used all eleven players with the ball. It is the first time something like this has happened in T20 cricket. Previously, 11 teams had used 9 bowlers in a t20 innings. It has happened in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as well. 

Manipur won the toss and opted to bat first in Group C match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25. Skipper Ayush Badoni’s interesting ploy to use all the elven players as bowlers including wicket-keeper Anuj Rawat turned worked well as they restricted Manipur for just 120-8 in their 20 overs.

None of the bowlers completed their quota of 4 overs. Harsh Rathi, Digvesh Rathi and Mayank Rawat bowled 3 overs each. As many as 5 bowlers bowled one over each. 

Harsh Tyagi and Digvesh Rathi picked up 2 wickets each with Priyasnh Arya, Ayush Badoni and Aayush Singh picking up one wicket each.

Delhi sitting pretty at top in Group C of SMAT 2024-25

Chasing 121 runs, Delhi got off to a shaky start. They lost 4 wickets for just 44 runs in 6.4 overs. Opener Yash Dhull (59* runs) held one end and saw his team over the line. Skipper Aysuh Badoni scored 13 runs with Mayank Rawat (18 runs) and Aryan Rana (13 runs) also chipping in with the bat. 

Delhi won the match by 4 wickets to register their 4th consecutive win in the tournament. They are at the top of Group C with 4 wins. Bisworjit Konthoujam picked up 2 wickets for Manipur. Rex Singh, Pheirojiam Jotin, Ajay Lamabam Singh and Jonhson Singh picked up one wicket each. 

Delhi’s next match is against Himachal Pradesh on 1st December 2024.
