Check out our probable Playing XI of Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.

Gujarat Titans (GT) are one of the finest-performing sides in the last three seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In their only first season in 2022, the side secured a title victory under the leadership of all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Then, the 2023 season them emerging as the runner-up.

After Pandya was traded to Mumbai Indians, Shubman Gill was handed the captaincy of the Titans in 2024. They finished eighth in the table, but retained their five players ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. Namely, they were Gill, Rashid Khan, Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia.

In the auction, they bought 20 players, including quality internationals like Jos Buttler, Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, Sherfane Rutherford, Glenn Phillips, Ishant Sharma. Let’s take a look at how their best XI shapes up for the upcoming season.

1. Jos Buttler

The Englishman counts as one of the best overseas batter to grace the field in the cash-rich league. In the last three seasons, Jos Buttler emerged as the leading run-getter for Rajasthan Royals with 1,618 runs in 42 innings. He stunned the cricket fraternity by winning the Orange Cap by scoring 863 runs in the 2022 season.

However, the Royals chose to release him and then tried to get him back in the auction. However, the Titans were able to secure the services of Buttler for an amount of INR 15.75 crore, as he became the most costly foreigner in the event. Buttler would pair up with Gill at the opening slot and would look to help the side get off to a great start in the powerplay.

2. Shubman Gill

The right-handed batter has scored the most runs for the Titans in their three-year stint in the IPL. He has garnered 1,799 runs at an average of around 45 and a strike rate of 147.70, with four hundreds and 10 fifties.

Along with providing a stable start to the team, Gill possesses the ability to convert his start into a big knock. If his partner, Buttler tries to take on the bowler, he will be a good fit for playing a second fiddle and help the team in posting a solid total on the board.

3. Sai Sudharsan

The young batter has made a strong impression of him as a consistent run-scorer. He impressed with his strong showing last season, where he slammed 527 runs at an average of around 48, and also stitched a 210-run stand en route to his century.

Sudharsan will bat at No. 3 in the 2025 season and could help the team recover from a bad start or continue the team’s momentum.

4. Mahipal Lomror

The left-hander is expected to make his presence in the XI due to impressive cameos in the last season and terrific form in domestic cricket. Mahipal Lomror was usually used as an Impact Player by Royal Challengers Bengaluru, as he scored 125 runs at a strike rate of 183.82.

Recently, Lomror slammed 300* against Uttarakhand in the Ranji Trophy and has been in credible form of late. He could be used as a slogger or can take the team gather runs at a quick pace in the middle-overs.

5. Glenn Phillips

The Kiwi international was picked up at his base price of INR 2 crore by the Titans. Along with his positive intent with the bat, Glenn Phillips can contribute with the ball and has been known to pluck outstanding catches.

In 253 T20s, Phillips has garnered 6,471 runs at a strike rate of 140.58, with five fifties to his name.

6. Shahrukh Khan

The designated finisher, Shahrukh Khan was retained by the Gujarat Titans due to his big-hitting abilities. He had a mediocre IPL 2024, with 127 runs in seven innings but held a strike rate of 169.33.

In the 2025 season, Shahrukh will be donning the same role but in a primary role. Until the last season, he had David Miller as his strong support, but will now look to infuse confidence to his partners like Phillips/ Sherfane Rutherford/ Washington Sundar who will represent the franchise for the first time.

7. Washington Sundar

The left-handed batter and a talented spinner, Washington Sundar can pip Rahul Tewatia to play at No.7 for the Titans in the IPL 2025 season. Tewatia didn’t bowl in the last season, but had a decent season with the bat, scoring 188 runs at a strike rate of around 145.

In the recent months, Sundar has impressed with his wicket-taking abilities and is potent enough to contribute with the bat in the death overs.

8. Rashid Khan

The Afghan superstar has turned out to be a legendary spinner in the cash-rich league. He has scalped 149 wickets in 121 appearances at an economy of 6.82.

Gujarat Titans' will rely on Rashid Khan in IPL 2025 as well.

Rashid is also the top wicket-taker for the Titans in the last three seasons with 56 wickets in 45 games. Along with his exceptional spin bowling, the 26-year-old is known to provide lusty blows to the side for a final flourish.

9. Mohammed Siraj

The right-arm pacer switches his side from Royal Challengers Bengaluru to Gujarat Titans in the 2025 season. In the last edition, Siraj scalped 15 wickets in 14 appearances at an economy of over 9. The development ended his seven-year long association with the Bengaluru-based franchise.

Siraj will have the responsibility to bowl in the powerplay and secure crucial breakthroughs. If he maintains the rhythm, the 30-year-old can be one of the crucial members of the GT side.

10. Kagiso Rabada

The Proteas pacer, Kagiso Rabada has been a proven performer in the IPL, with 117 wickets in 80 games. However, Rabada had a mediocre 2024 season, where he finished with 11 scalps in as many appearances, at an economy of 8.85.

Nevertheless, with a fresh energy, Rabada will look to take care of the new ball and also put brakes on the opposition in the death overs.

11. Prasidh Krishna

The in-form pacer, Prasidh Krishna missed the last two IPL seasons due to injury concerns. However, Krishna was impressive in 2022, securing 19 wickets in 17 games for Rajasthan Royals.

The 28-year-old recently took 10 wickets in two four-day games against Australia A and is currently a part of the Indian team on their test tour to Australia. Krishna is a great exponent of swing bowling and can also put in extra yards to nail yorkers in the death.

Impact Players: Rahul Tewatia, Sherfane Rutherford
