Australia got bowled out for 337 runs in their first innings at the Adelaide Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. They are 157 runs ahead of India.
Travis Head led the Australian batting by scoring 140 runs. He continued his great form against India. Australia were 86-1 after Day 1 with Nathan McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne at the crease.
Bumrah dismissed McSweeney (39 runs) in the fourth over on Day 2. He got Steve Smith (2 runs) caught behind a couple of overs later. Then Travis Head joined Labuschagne and they scored 65 runs between them. Nitish Kumar Reddy dismissed Labuschagne for 64 runs.
Australia then lost Mitchell Marsh (15 runs) to Ravichandran Ashwin. Travis Head continued playing his shots from one end. Alex Carey (15 runs) had a crucial partnership of 74 runs with Travis Head. Mohammed Siraj dismissed Carey.
Travis Head then got bowled off Siraj after hitting a four and a six. Skipper Pat Cummins (12 runs) and Mitchell Starc (18 runs) scored 22 runs between them. Australia lost their last three wickets for just 5 runs.
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj led India’s bowling against Australia at Adelaide
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj picked up 4 wickets each for India. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravichandran Ashwin ended up with one wicket each. Australia has an important lead of 157 runs.

The Indian batters, especially the top order need to step up in the second innings. At the end of their innings, Australia has the upper hand in the pink ball test. Jasprit Bumrah got a little bit of niggle while bowling but he looked good and bowled well after that.
India will hope for a similar kind of performance from Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul as they did in the second innings of the first test at Perth.
