Spin to win for New Zealand
New Zealand won the toss and skipper Sophie Devine opted to bat first. They were off to a decent start with Georgia Plimmer (33 runs) and Suzie Bates (26 runs) having a 48-run partnership for the first wicket before Bates was bowled by Karishma Ramharack. Then New Zealand kept losing wickets at regular intervals and managed only 128 runs with the bat.
Sophie Devine (12 runs) and Brooke Halliday (18 runs) had an important partnership of 27 runs for the fourth wicket. Chasing 129 runs, West Indies had a poor start as they lost last game’s star, Qiana Joseph (12 runs) in the 3rd over and then Shemaine Campbell in the following over. It was the final nail in the coffin for the Windies as Suzie Bates held her nerves in the last over. Eden Carson picked up 3 wickets with Amelia Kerr picking up 2 wickets.
