Indian batter KL Rahul got injured during India’s intra-squad match. There’s no update about the seriousness of Rahul’s injury but it looks like it’s not something very concerning and he will be available for the first test. India opted to play an intra-squad match ahead of the first test at Perth from November 22nd.
As per reports, he was hit by a bouncer on the elbow and had to leave. The physio was seen attending to him in the images that surfaced on the internet. India preferred intra-squad matches and match simulations over any warm-up matches ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
India’s match simulation lasted for 75 overs. The batting side scored 339 for 8 wickets. Prasidh Krishna, Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini and Nitish Kumar Reddy seemed to bowl the majority of the overs.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, KL Rahul looked in good touch before Prasidh Krishna’s bouncer struck him on the elbow. The other batters struggled to get going in the intra-squad match.
Many batters were caught behind and failed to adjust to the pace and bounce of the conditions. Yashasvi Jaiswal looked most comfortable against the short balls. Gill also did well. Jaiswal batted again after being caught behind for 15 for the first time he came out to bat.
Virat Kohli looked in good touch and played a couple of shots. He was also caught behind off Mukesh Kumar and then spent some time in the nets. Nitish Kumar Reddy bowled well and troubled the batters.
The Indian batters will have to be on their toes in this series, especially in the conditions at Perth. One of KL Rahul or Abhimanyu Easwaran will open for India alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Skipper Rohit Sharma will miss the first test as he’s expecting the birth of his second child. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah will lead the team in Rohit’s absence.
