Indian captain Rohit Sharma immediately started practising as soon as he joined the Indian team during the first test.

Rohit was on paternity leave for the first test as he was expecting the birth of his second child. Rohit and Ritika (his wife) were blessed with a baby boy just ahead of the first test at Perth.

The Indian skipper joined the squad squad on the 4th day of the Perth test which India won quite dominatingly by a big margin of 295 runs. Jasprit Bumrah was leading the Indian side in Rohit’s absence.

Rohit will take over the captaincy duties from the 2nd day test at Adelaide. With him coming back, KL Rahul will move down the batting order.

Rohit batted against India’s reserve pacers; Mukesh Kumar, Yash Dayal and Navdeep Saini.

BCCI shared the video on their social handle on ‘X’. Fox Cricket also shared a video of David Warner talking about the Indian captain’s net session.

India will play a 2-day practice match at Canberra against Prime Ministers XI. It will be an important warm-up match ahead of the second day-night test at the Adelaide Oval.

Rohit has played 7 tests in Australia scoring 408 runs at an average of 31.38 including 3 fifties to his name. Indian openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal were exceptional in the first test and Rohit will have to be on his toes with the bat at the top.

It will be interesting to see India’s batting order with Rohit coming back to the squad. Shubman Gill is set to return for the second test. The Indian batter missed the first game after suffering a finger injury during the intrasquad match.

Nitish Kumar Reddy was impressive in the first game with the bat but he’s most likely to make way for Rohit in India’s XI. KL Rahul will move down the order.
