Nicholas Pooran hits 9 sixes during his innings of 97 For the Knight Riders in CPL 2024

Nicholas Pooran, batter of the Trinidad and Tobago Knight Riders (TKR), was on fire in the third contest of the Caribbean Premier League 2024 against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (SNP). The match took place on Saturday, August 31, at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts. 

After winning the coin toss and opting to bowl first, Knight Riders opener Sunil Narine scored a quick innings comprising three fours and four sixes off 19 balls before being dismissed by Ryan John. In the fifth over, Jason Roy was removed by Anrich Nortje for six runs.

Nicholas Pooran batted at number 3 and completely dominated with his innings establishing a sensational partnership of 122 runs with Keacy Carty off only 59 balls for the fourth wicket. Pooran’s innings came to an end just short of a century as he was caught out at 97 off 43 deliveries hitting seven boundaries along with nine sixes.

In the meantime, Carty at 73 remained unbeaten in 35 balls with nine fours and three sixes while Trinbago Knight Riders made 250-4 from their allocation of 20 overs. For St Kitts & Nevis Patriots Anrich Nortje took two wickets and was the best bowler.

Sunil Narine excels with the ball for the Knight Riders

The early breakthrough came from Joshua Littlegave as he dismissed St Kitts captain Andre Fletcher for a two-ball duck while chasing a target of 251, although Kyle Mayers was also removed by Little soon after for six. Evin Lewis added with some valuable contributions of thirty-nine runs off twenty-Three balls hitting four fours and two sixes.

The fourth wicket partnership between Mikyle Louis and Tristan Stubbs then put together a 70-run partnership from forty-two balls before Narine got rid of Louis on fifty-six. This Stubbs guy made thirty-nine runs from nineteen balls.

Still, SNP was unable to catch up – losing by forty-four runs. Sunil Narine had an exceptionally good day with TKR’s bowling attack taking two wickets while giving away only 24 runs in four overs.
