Dhruv Jurel takes stunning catch to dismiss Abhimanyu Easwaran

by Cricketbeing

Dhruv Jurel’s key catch gave India A the first breakthrough in their 2024 Duleep Trophy match against India B on September 5.

In the beginning, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhimanyu Easwaran used a cautious approach as Shubman Gill who was captain of India A won the toss and preferred to dip first. They had to face pace bowlers like Khaleel Ahmed, Akash Deep and Avesh Khan with new ball.

On the last ball of the 13th over bowled by Avesh Khan, Easwaran played an outrageous drive outside the off stump which is not his habit. The ball edged and went to slips but Jurel almost collided with second slip while diving in front of the fielder at first slip yet managed to catch it.

After the first hour’s play, team score stood at 33-1 with the fall of India B captain. Yashasvi Jaiswal was joined by Musheer Khan of Mumbai at number three position in the batting order.

Dhruv Jurel will be keen to keep his spot as the top wicket-keeper for the home season and beyond.

Jurel’s exceptional entry into red-ball cricket has proven highly effective. With KS Bharat struggling and Ishan Kishan absent, the 23-year-old seized the opportunity. He has excelled both with the bat and the gloves during the home series against England.

Currently, Jurel is up against fierce rivalry as Ishan Kishan comes back to red-ball cricket while Rishabh Pant is also likely to be part of the contest. As Team India sets out to play several red-ball matches in near future, it is necessary for Jurel to keep performing at the same level so that he can hold onto his position.
