Joe Root and Harry Brook

Harry Brook showed his impressive performance with the bat in Pakistan by scoring a triple century in the Multan Test match. Brook started the 2024 series with a triple-hundred run score, after scoring three centuries in a row during his first tour of Pakistan in 2022. He is the only cricket player to achieve four consecutive centuries in the Paki soil.

On the fourth day, Brook improved his performance and achieved the milestone of becoming the sixth England batsman to score a triple-century. After scoring a triple-century in Multan, he joined Virender Sehwag and Mark Taylor in a prestigious list of triple-century scorers in Pakistan.

Joe Root fell short of a triple-century and was dismissed for a score of 262 by Pakistan’s off spinner and batsman Agha Salman who trapped the ex-England captain in front of the stumps. Root and Brook set numerous records with their remarkable partnership of 454 runs for the fifth wicket.

They now have the record for highest partnership scored against Pakistan in Test matches. The previous record was set on the 30th May of 1947 in Edgbaston, Birmingham. The Test match was played against the West Indies where Peter May scored 344 runs and Colin Cowdrey scored 146 runs, compiling the biggest partnership for England of a total of 411 runs.

Brook’s sensational innings came to an end in the 147th over of the inning bowled by Saim Ayub. Brook tried to play a sweep shot but doesn’t get a hold of it and gives it straight to the skipper Shan Masood.

Brook has now reached the milestone of 1000 Test runs in fewer balls than any other cricketer in the world.

Later Pakistan were able to take more wickets and as a result England declared their innings after scoring a massive total of 823 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 150 overs.
