England recently won the second test of the three-match series against New Zealand, taking an unassailable lead of 2-0.
During the second test at the Basin Reserve in Wellington, England achieved the milestone of scoring 5 lakh runs in test cricket. They became the first team in cricket history to accomplish this feat.
They have now scored over 500,000 runs in test cricket in 1082 test matches. Australia is second on the list with 428,794 runs, and India is third with 278,700 runs.
England defeated New Zealand by a huge margin of 323 runs in the second test at Wellington. Harry Brook was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ in the second test. He scored 123 runs in the first innings and followed it by 55 runs in the second.
Joe Root scored his 36th test century in this game. He equalled Rahul Dravid’s 36 test centuries. He’s now in the 5th position after Sachin Tendulkar, Jacques Kallis, Ricky Ponting and Kumar Sangakkara for most test centuries.

England also holds the record for most test centuries in world cricket. The English batters have scored a total of 929 centuries in test cricket. Australia is 2nd on this list with their batters scoring 592 hundreds in test cricket. India is third with the Indian batters scoring 552 centuries in the longest format of the game.
In the 2nd test against the Kiwis, Joe Root completed his 100th 50+ score in tests. He’s only behind India’s Sachin Tendulkar (119), South Africa’s Jacques Kallis (103) and Australia’s Ricky Ponting (103).
The third and final test match of the 3-match series between England and New Zealand will start on 14th December. Seddon Park, Hamilton will host this game. England has already won the Crowe-Thorpe Trophy 2024 by winning the first two games.
